How many times have you heard "talk to your local county extension agent" as an answer to your turf questions?

Well, there's a reason for that.  Your local county extension agent can help you with soil testing.  Soil testing is the practice of measuring what nutrients are in the soil, what nutrients are available to your turf, and also the soil pH.   Fertilizer recommendations for your field usually come with the soil test results. 

Soil testing is the foundation of good athletic field turf.  Plan to test your soil every year if possible.  Soil testing is very inexpensive, and is the key to the long-term health of your fields.
