What is the Texas Sports Turf Managers Association?
A professional association established in 2004 by merging the North and South Texas STMA chapters to better serve the sports turf industry in the state of Texas. The Texas STMA promotes safe and healthy sports turf facilities through educational field days, workshops and events. Texas STMA is a proud affiliated chapter of the national STMA, and encourages its members to participate in this organization and its events.
Who are its members?
Our organization is comprised of professional turf managers across the state that manage college and university facilities, parks and recreation departments, school districts, private sport facilities, and professional sport venues. Our membership also includes turfgrass researchers, commercial suppliers, coaches and students pursuing a career in sports turf management. As you can see, we have a very broad range of members.
What do I get by being a member?
Opportunities throughout the year to network, share ideas, learn from the latest research, and hear from top experts in the industry by attending various field days, workshops, and vendor exhibits. These events are held throughout the state at selected professional, university, high school, and parks and recreation facilities. You will meet and develop relationships with some of the top turf managers and industry professionals in Texas. You will tour their facilities and hopefully pick up some of their tips and tricks of the trade. Our supportive industry partners sponsor these events so they are free of charge to all current members. That is a great benefit!
Also included in member benefits is the opportunity to apply for a continuing education scholarship specifically for professional members. The Cody Hobbs scholarship is awarded each year to current members who are striving to improve their professional development. Student scholarships are also available to individuals pursuing a career in the sports turf management profession.
Do I get anything else?
For only a $30 annual membership fee, members receive the most current industry news and information delivered through the TXSTMA.org website, email updates, Facebook, Twitter and a quarterly newsletter – Sidelines. There are also several opportunities to participate in the Annual Scholarship Fundraising events across the state.
Affiliate members also enjoy all these great benefits as well as opportunities to advertise and sponsor association activities. Membership dues for these members are only $75.00 for the primary member and $35.00 for each secondary member.
The Texas STMA is a great way to promote your company and meet your future customers!
